Established in 1993 to honor Maharaja Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma, a champion of development in Travancore, Sree Chithira Thirunal Residential School has grown into a premier residential institution.
Starting with 250 students up to grade 4, SCTRCS achieved CBSE affiliation for secondary education in 2000. In 1998, it expanded to a larger campus in Kunnathukal. By 2001, it offered senior secondary education (grades 11 and 12).
SCTRCS’ commitment extends beyond academics. It established the Sree Chithira Thirunal National Award in 2006 and introduced endowment awards for both teachers and students in 2010. Notably, the school maintains a consistent record of 100% pass rates.
Enriching experiences are a hallmark of SCTRCS. The school has hosted visits from presidents, renowned figures in sports and literature, scientists, and accomplished individuals across various fields.
From its humble beginnings, SCTRCS has become a leading residential school in Kerala. It boasts exceptional academic achievements year after year and a distinguished alumni network.
Maharaja Sree Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma’s reign over Travancore (present-day Kerala) ushered in a period of significant modernization. He championed social reforms with the Temple Entry Proclamation, ensuring access to temples for all.
His vision for education led to the establishment of Kerala University. Under his rule, Travancore witnessed the rise of key institutions like the State Bank of Travancore and Thiruvananthapuram Medical College.
Sree Chithira Thirunal’s progressive leadership continues to be acknowledged in Kerala. The Sree Chithira Thirunal Residential Central School stands as a testament to honour his dedication to education and social advancement.
Our mission is to provide a well balanced instructional program that enables all students to achieve their highest level of academic success, preparing them for their desired careers. Additionally, within three years, we aim to equip students with the knowledge and skills to make healthy choices, avoiding junk food and a sedentary lifestyle.
Rabindranath Tagore’s “lead kindly light” embodies SCTRCS’s motto. It reflects the school’s role in guiding students with knowledge (light) on their educational journey (path), while fostering exploration and inner strength through its programs and support systems.
